upgrade impact analysis using solution manager instead of panaya tool?

Hi Solution Manager Experts,

 

1. I just upgraded my sandbox system to the latest enhancement pack level, want to see any code changes have been made in my new enhancement system with respect to my old version? can i do it with Solution Manager?

Previously we use to work with panaya tool and find the change code analysis. Now i heard we can do the same analysis using solution manager tools.Is this correct? if Yes, will it be accurate as panaya tool?

 

2. can some one shed some lights on how to find the code changes of my latest patch sandbox system with compare to the old sandbox system using solution manager?

 

I got some links, which are old, can some one help me with any sap guide, sap blog, sap post or document that would be really helpful

Disable automatic discovery of IIS

Hi experts,

 

we have upgraded Solution Manager 7.1 to SPS 10 now and since the upgrade of all DAA instances we automatically get the IIS instances on those hosts. Since we are not using the monitoring of 3rd party systems, the questions is how to disable the automatic discovery of those IIS instances? We only want to monitor our SAP systems in Solman, for the rest Nagios is in place. I have tried to delete the discovered IIS parts in LMDB, but that doesn't do the trick. After the DAA starts on that host, it gets automatically synchronized again. :-(

When trying to start solution maintenance from web workcenter ags_work_appln contains ip address rather than FQN

Solution Manager 7.1 SP08

 

From the web-based Solman WorkCenter, I choose to maintain a solution. 
The ags_work_appln.sap file used to invoke the sapgui specifies an ip address rather than the fully qualified name.

Unfortunately, this server is part of a couple separate networks and the selected ip address is a network that is not accessible from my browser.


I would expect the product to utilize the FQN rather than an ip address.

 

An example of an ags_work_appln.sap file is:

If I edit the file & replace the ip address with the FQN, it works like a charm.

 

Anyone have an idea where I might change my setup to use the FQN rather than an ip address.
I guess a second less desirable option is to use a different ip address that is accessible from my browser.
Third option is to use the SAPGUI based workcenter rather than the web based interface (SAP recommends the Web UI).

SLD Data supplier is missing

Hi All,

 

I want send data to SLD from SAP system in another network (WAN). I use sldreg to send data and data successfully sending to Solman not to SLD. In Solman with TCODE SMSY I can see the server, but not for database and other. When I check in solman with tcode LMDB, I cannot see my technical system. When I create technical system manually all of product is blank. Should I fill manually? Whereas when I use local connection and send data with RZ70 tcode I can see all my technical system automatically both in SLD and Solman.

 

An additional I cannot see SAP system in SLD if get data from SAP System in another network. Am I missing some step? Look like data send succesfully, but in SLD is no data.

Sol doc/CHARM

Hi,

 

We are facing issues when we add project and structures to RFC.

After saving the RFC when we go to the service tab in the project and navigate the node for which the RFC was created, we dont see the RFC No. there.

We could see that Change transaction is created by no other information is updated.

Stop Solman monitoring a database during an upgrade

Hi All,

 

I'm about to upgrade an Oracle 10g database to 12c but there is a note in the Upgrade Guide for UNIX that says :-

 

Make sure that processes that log on to the database, such as CRON jobs, are not active during the upgrade.

Make sure that you reschedule these processes when the upgrade has finished.

 

So my first thought was Solman.

 

So my question is, how do I prevent or rather pause Solman from attempting to connect to this database whilst I perform the upgrade?

Is it simply to schedule a Planned Downtime phase via Work Mode Management is that sufficient?

 

Reason I ask this is because 3 of my sap systems running Oracle have a scheduled Planned Downtime every night for an offline backup and yet I see errors in the system log for Solman that it still tries to connect to them several times during the planned downtime!

 

I need to prevent this from happening.

How to analysis Scope and Effort analyzer report for ERP upgrade

Hi All,

 

I am using SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP13.

 

We are planning to do upgrade the ECC landscape from EHP6 SP04 to EHP7 SP12 .

 

Already the UPL is activated in the production system.

 

So i have generated the xml and generated the SAP Module oriented Blueprint (Process Step Library) with dynamic TBOM through SEA analysis.

 

SEA job almost ran for a week and generated this SEA report .

 

But i am not able to find the clear document how to analysis this report .This is new functionalities shipped from SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP11.

In the SEA analysis , We have summary, Modification/custom development , Test management and Updated SAP Objects.

 

In Modification/custom development, we have  Impact to Modifications [number of objects] and Custom Developments with Development and Unit Test Efforts details.

But i am not about find clear document about to analysis these details in the report.How to compare these details with ERP landscape and test the effected object.

 

Also what is the difference between in the report of  Custom Development Management Cockpit(CDMC) - Upgrade / Change Impact Analysis and SEA analysis report.

 

Any idea, helps or tips to analysis the SEA report.

Updating the template for Test Case Description

Hi All,

 

Greetings...

 

In one of my projects, I want to customize the template provided by the SAP in test case description.

 

We can add test case description while creating Manual Test Case (Tx: STWB_TC), Test Script and Test Configuration (Tx: SECATT)

 

I want ot update the default template with the custom template.

 

We had tried to update the same in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN --> select Project --> Project Standard --> Project Templates --> Documantation Types, selected TD1, Test Case Description of Complete Directory of Document Types and using Document Template --> Change and Import we tried to update the template. In the document type, it has been changed but it is not reflecting in the other transactions.

 

Please help me in this regard to update the test case description.

I am searching for a monitor to provide alerts on the SCM CIF Postprocess (/sapapo/cpp).  Can someone provide some guidance?  I have set up monitors to handle data consistency on the transactional data (CCR).  We are running SolMan 7.1 sp13.

PO - Message monitoring Alert

Hi All,

 

 

we have configured PO Message monitoring in solution manager system and we are receiving alert mails also if the message gets failed. but the alert mail is just showing as "message failed".

 

But our client wants the email alert with message number or id ,so that we can directly check the failed messages.  .

 

Could you please help me how to configure this one so that i will get alert with message number? one of my colleague told that need to configure BPMon, then only will get alert like that.

 

Is it required to configure BPmon to get the alert with message number?

Monitor IT landscape

Hi experts,

 

Is there a possibility within the Solution Manager to monitor the IT infrastructure landscape in such a way that when if a technical component goes down, we see the impact on all the IT landscape? We were looking at BPM but we aren't sure this is it because it rather focusses on the processes. Or is this the way to go? Maybe you guys can give us some directions?

 

Our goal: when f.e. some machine or router does not respond, then we want to see that f.e. the ECC and CRM environments will be impacted.

 

Currently we run SolMan71SP12 and have configured technical monitoring but this only shows us the status of one system at the time and not the link between systems/components. We also have RealTech connected to our SolMan.

Solution not Visible under Solutions but is showing in Active solutions

Hi Experts,

 

I am new to SAP Solution manager and is creating a solution in BPM following a document from market place.

 

I have created a solution and was able to see the alert list in Demo server where as in client server I am facing the issue.

 

I have created a solution in SOLMAN_WORKCENTER tcode under SAP Solution Manager Administration tab. When I went to Business Operations Tab and click on Maintain Solution my solution is visible under Active solutions but when I click on Solutions under Overview and Expand tray under Solutions with Active Business Process and Interface Monitoring I am unable to see my solution. Can you please help me the reason behind it and also to overcome it.

job SAP_LMDB_LDB gettig canceled in LMDM synchronization

Hi Experts,

 

In solman_setup we are doing LMDB synchronization and One of my job(SAP_LMDB_LDB_0000000001) is getting canceled and when i see the job log for this i got the run time error as "SYSTEM_CANCELED" and short text as "The program z-- was terminated manually"

 

In error analysis i am getting the message "The current program has been terminated from another mode, e.g. with transaction SM50"

 

I need help in analyzing what caused the short dump.

ChaRM:cCTS Configuration Import Targets Issue.

Hi ChaRM Experts,

    

Did any one configured cCTS for ChaRM in Solution Manager SP10 ?.

    

I have configured cCTS in our solution manager and created clusters for DEV, QAS and PRD and assigned satellite systems then distributed plugins every thing is fine till here.

    

Then defined transport routes between the clusters => CDV (consolidation)-> CQS (Delivery)-> CPD.

 

Then i am trying to insert source client and target client for CQS in Import Targets Tab, Followed below steps.

 

1) Call transaction STMS and choose Overview  -> Transport Routes from the menu

2) Switch to edit mode

3) Double click on a target cluster , e.g the quality CQS

4) In the dialog box, select tab Import Targets

5) Choose Insert Row -> Insert Row is invisible i am unable to specify source and targets clients

 

Could some one please help how to make visible Insert Row icon ?.

Dashboard for BO server performance

Hi Experts,

 

I need to create a dashboard which will exhibit the BO server performance.

 

Dashboard Designer 4.1 SP4 Patch1 will be used for this.

 

I am currently exploring  both bex as well as web service options to bring in the cubes into the dashboard,

 

Major concern is how do I track the infocubes, The performance data is passed to the Solution Manager, I have access to the SM system.

 

Has anyone seen this before? Inputs will be appreciated.Kindly suggest which infocubes can be selected for this.
