Agents "On the Fly" Scenario

Hi,

 

The Landscape is as below :

 

Application Server (CI) - Host1

Message Server & ERS - Virtual Host on Host2 OR Host3 ( Cluster Envt - node failover ).

DB - Virtual Host on Host2

 

Host1 and Host2 are physical servers. OS is Windows.

 

We are using Solman 7.1 SP8 and its a Cluster Environment.

 

Now my question is when I use the On the Fly Agent Scenario as per the Agent Setup Strategy Document we run Solman_Setup --> Managed System --> hosts --> Select Hosts and run the configuration. Enable the "On the Fly Scenario" and here it automatically searches and selects the Instances running on the particular physical Host.

However, this is limited to the Instances which are already running on this server.

For Ex: MS & ERS are currently running on Host2

I run the "On the Fly Agent" setup for Host2 and these instances are read perfectly.

 

But when the node failover happens how does the Agent on Host3 find these instances since when the "on the fly" setup was run for Host3 these instances were not operational there.

 

If the above is correct then how should we maintain the different instances running on multiple hosts ? Do we add them manually by mapping on all the physical hosts where the instance could run ( primary & secondary ).

 

If not then please correct me.

EWA for JAVA giving me heartburn

I am running solman 7.1 SP7 and have connected my Diagnostics agent in solman_setup to the system and have activated EWA. I am still not getting any data but the setup seems complete. Has anyone else had issues with this?

system preparation not responding

Dear all,

 

I installed a new 7.1 solman SP04 on a windows 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition 64bit with MS SQL 2008 R2.

 

After running the solman_setup on the System Preparation screen after I click NEXT it just hangs, stop responding, nothing happen, what could be the problem?

I already tried to reset host name through Agent admin, does anyone have idea, how to remove agent to host in this case?

Solution Manager Diagnostics Agents

Hi,

 

I am on Solman 7.1 SP8 on Windows Cluster VM environment. I am trying to setup Technical monitoring and Diagnostics.

The problems is with the Diagnostics agents:

 

1.

** I have already Increased the parameters as per the section 'Scalability' in the Diagnostics Troubleshooting guide. Also, increased the number of concurrent registrations allowed from default value 10 and increased the number of threads.

The Agents keep on randomly shutting down with these errors.

 

I have tried with the smdsetup scripts.

 

I am using the 'On the Fly' scenario.

I do not find any solutions for these errors.

Enable Reporting on Charm

I am trying to enable reporting on Charm. I am having trouble with the dataflow in MOD (Dev). The data flow is 3x. Here are some more details:

 

DataSource : /CRMBW/OLTP_SRV_ORDER

BI Content : Release 706; Level 0005; Highest Support Pack SAPK-70605INBICONT

 

I don't see the "Update Rules" in the DataFlow. Any suggestion? Do I need to create a transformation to proceed?

Error installing Diagnostic Agent 7.3

ChaRM Approval Procedure doesn´t copy from Z-Partnerfunction (SMCR)

Hi,

 

in my Change Request ZMCR I use the approval Procedure SMCR0001, but instead of the Change Manager Function which is normaly used for approval, I do use an own Z-BPFuction Called Change Coordinator ZDCR0011. Which is also configured in the Approval Procedure. Sadly, when I fill in the BP in the header of the Ticket and choose the approval Function, the BP is not copied into the approval assignment block. When I connfigure the procedure to use the Change Manager it is working.

 

Does anyone have any Idea, why it is not working with Z-Functions?

When Creating a Request for Change we would like to Default the CAB

BP entered in General Data to the Partner ID at The Approval Steps.

Is it possible to get a detailed configuration documentation about Approval Process?

Have any of you guys got a procedure to properly configure the approval process for Change Management (Charm)?   Our search on the web has been the very challenging for many reasons:

 

1. The sap-press books are more oriented by salesmen.  They tell you what you can do, but do not tell you how with sufficient detail. 

2.  The E2E-200 training we took for 7.1, was more oriented on how to use charm once it is configured.  For the configuration you are invited to take SM-200, but that training has not been scheduled for almost a year.  

3. The online help is also not descriptive.  They do not go deep into the material.

4. The upgrade guide available for 7.1 SP03 gives you 3 pages with some screeshots on how to create a Z01 approval, but only briefly.

5. Then all points to note 1608118, which asumes many things, e.g. they ask you to customize a new PPF action (well, how do I do that?  Could not they be more descriptive?

 

As you may see, my etam and myself have tried to do our best to get to the bottom of the topic, not staying idle waiting for help, but now we need to ask the community to see if there is someone wtih a clear step by step procedure that explains and connects the different dots.

Adding some user status in a Status Profile Service Desk Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1

Hello experts,

 

I got to add some status in our status profile ZLFN0001, actually we got 16 different status like ZNEW, ZBAN, ZFAC..., and the management want to add three more, the Auth. Code for all of them is SLFN, if I want to put the three new status I got go to the Change Status profile in the SPRO transactios and add them in the table directly? do i have t do some extra work with these three new status or it is enough?

Inactive Field RFC Connection in BI Analytics

Hello SAP Guru,

 

I am trying to activate BW based reporting in SOLMAN_WORKCENTER, but the RFC Destination Field from BW to SOLMAN is inactive. Moreover, the BI Content Activation is already done without having this RFC destination.

That's why a couple of errors occur, the first of which is: 'Cannot read destination from BI to Solution Manager'.

 

Has anyone an idea how to reset the RFC destination fields, so the target could be entered again?

SMD Agent Admin initial screen doesn't open

Hi ,

 

While trying to setup/view SMD agents connected to our solution manager we tried to open SMD Agent admin screen but it won't start and fails with error.

This failed with below error.

Maintenance mode stays "ON", if we try to switch it "OFF" we are getting below error.

 

2013.09.03 06:42:11, Error during the update of Maintenance mode. (detail: com.sap.smd.server.manager.SMDException: Failed to store config file: maitenance/smd.mode.properties)

 

Any ideas if this is known to anyone?

Agent Version Differs From LMService

HELLO SAP community,

 

I have yet another situation which requires the expertise of users with more knowledge than I posses. I am in the process of setting up a new Solution Manager 7.1 system. We run SAP on two kinds of servers, AS400 and Windows. My current task is to set up Diagnostics Agent 7.3 on all the hosts we run an SAP system on. I finished installing Diagnostics Agents on my AS400 systems but I have run into something while working with one of our Windows systems.

 

When I set up the diagnostics agent I made sure to include all the info about the sld I wanted the system to be connected to.

 

I noticed something was wrong first when I went to do the Managed System Configuration through solman_setup. We have two SAP systems on the host uksapmiiprd, an abap system and a java system. I started out with the config of the the abap system. Once I got to the step Assign Diagnostics Agent I realized something must be wrong with the agent I installed on this host. In the Agent Assignment tab, when I choose Assign, there are no agents on this host to choose from.

 

I continued to the next tab on this page, SLD Agent Candidates, I see that connection to uksapmiiprd has failed... Makes sense then why the previous tab seems to think there aren't any Diagnostics Agents on this host.

 

Crazy think is that when I select uksapmiiprd and try to connect it, the pending symbol will be on screen for a little but, but it goes back to connection failure with in several minutes.

 

I also took a look at the Agent Administration tool. This screen shot is from the agent administration tool. As you can see I am getting the message "Agent Version Differs from LMService" and further right you can see I am getting a status of deploying applications. Under the application management tab, if I try to deploy applications to the agent on uksapmiiprd I get a bunch of errors about how the host can't be found. Under the application viewer tab I can see there are only 6 applications associated with the agent on host uksapmiiprd, but agents on all the other hosts have like 36 applications.

 

Since I realized something was wrong with this particular diagnostics agent I started researching but didn't find a whole lot to go on. I am a novice at best when it comes to SAP as a whole so I have little idea where to look for the answers. I read a suggestion to look at the diagnostics agent troubleshooting guide, but I just didn't see a fix. So I guess what I would like is some help figuring out why this diagnostics agent isn't connecting to the solution manager correctly, or maybe an explanation as to why the Agent version differs from LMService. Which seems strange to me since I have this same version of Diagnostics Agent on another Windows host and there aren't any messages about the agent version differing from the LMService. Please direct me to any logs I should be looking for, or any documentation that exists which would assist me. If I can not resolve this within the next few days I will probably just try to reinstall the Diagnostics Agent, but I would prefer to just fix the one I have. Thanks for all the help in advance.

Interactive Report: DB Utilization report displays no value

Hi,

 

In the interactive report the DB utilization report displays no value. The output depends on the DB memory used, free memory in DB and memory available to the DB in the file system.

System monitoring for the satellite system is active and the data is available in the system monitoring.

Any suggestions please.

 

System details: Solution manager 7.1 SP08

Satellite system: SCM7.0 Ehp2, ECC6.0


How to temporarily deactivate system in LMDB to avoid QGM errors?

Hi, all.

 

Some background for this one:

 

we're on SM7.1, sp4.  We use Quality gate management for transports/projects.

 

One of the issues we've had in the past was that during system upgrades, if systems were included in QGM configuration and were not temporarily deactivated in SMSY then transports would fail as the TP would perform TMS checks and see that the system was not available at transport time.  In SMSY there was the ability to temporarily inactivate that system so that the TMS check would skip checking to see if that system was available.

 

Since moving to SM7.1, that check box in SMSY is no longer available - instead, we seem to need to go to LMDB and select "Inactive" for system status which "should" make that change in SMSY to temporarily inactivate the system.  The problem, however, is that this configuration change does not seem to be reflected in SMSY without a lot of jumping through hoops (making another change, save change, reverse change) to try to get the LMDB to SMSY job to actually see the change and send it so SMSY.

 

Has anyone come across this and found a consistent way to get this to work?

Tasklist is not recognising an action - create transport of copy

I have added the action to create a transport of copy in my custom transaction type ZMHF, AMHF_ACTIONS, and I have also defined the appropriate scheduling condition, still it is throwing me the below error :-

 

It is not able to related the "action" create transport of copies with the tasklist. Every urgent change creates its own tasklist, but in this case, the tasklist which is getting created is not having the "create transport of copies" in its tasks at all. And hence the error. I am able to add it manually, and execute the action from the task list, but it isnt working from the UI.

 

Please help!

Upgrade to Solution Manager 7.1 with Oracle 11g

Hi everyone!

 

I upgraded from EHP1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 to Solution Manager 7.1. Upgrade was successful, but oracle version still 10.2.0.4. Upgrade was done with Software Update Manager and during update process it didn't ask any oracle installation software. I found nothing about this question in upgrade guide. How can I upgrade Solution Manager with upgrading Oracle database to 11g version. Thanks.

EWA generation for JAVA systems

Dear Gurus,

 

I am using Solution Manager 7.1 SP8 and require to enable EWA for JAVA systems (Enterprise Portal server). Diagnostic agent 7.3 SP3 has already been installed in Solution Manager and managed system configuration is also partially completed  for EP server.

 

Could you please guide me step by step to configure the same ? I have followed the document attached in 976054 note, but still I am having some doubts to proceed smoothly. So, I do require your support to move forward.

Problem with duplicated hostnames

I have installed a new SOLMAN 7.1, and I am connecting now our customer's systems to it. The problem that I am facing is that two customers have the same hostname for their SAP systems. I am collecting the host data with Outside Discovery, using the Diagnostics Agent and the SLD. So, when I added the first customer, it went fine, but when I did it for the second, it did not create a new host, but used the host that had been created for the first one, and changed some of the collected information. So now I have two SAP systems in SOLMAN that are associated to the same host. Has anyone had the same problem? Is there a way to distinguish the hostnames when they are received in the SLD (as it does with the SAP SID, for example, in SOLMAN, adding a sufix)?
